Jenkins' Journey Part II - Written By Agent62

"I see Riflemen. I see Reapers. I see rocks..." Jeff reported. "There is cover, but not enough to hide from them sharpshooters." Marko perked up from the wagon wheel he was fixing. "They ain''''t sharpshooters, for the last time! We can hit twice as good as they can and will! Damn it!" Jeff watched in amusement as Marko dropped the wrench again. He had been trying to fix that wheel for an hour now, and the whole company was waiting on him to start the fight. Some had already left their position, and gone over to the fire, where Amber was making biscuits. "Just quit trying to fix that dern wagon and help me with these Riflemen! I can''t believe how stubborn you are!" Marko payed no attention, and continued to hammer away at the wheel, no longer caring weather he fixes it or brakes it for good.

Capitan Jenkins sat worried on his wagon. He had drank his fourth cup of coffee, unusual for the man. In fact, it was unusual for Jenkins to drink any thing but water, Amber observed. She decided to walk up and ask him what was the matter. "It would do not good to have a Capitan who was sulking." She pondered. "Jenkins! You look like you''ve seen a ghost!" She paused, realizing he might have seen one. "You haven''t seen a ghost yet have you?" Jenkins looked up with a faint smile. "No, not yet ma''am. But I reckon I will before the days up. I ain''t so worried now, about the wagons, rather than the Regulators. I don''t think any of these men have been trained for this type of thing." Amber felt sympathy for the man, even if she doubted his ability to lead, as much as the mens ability to fight. "Don''t worry about it Capitan. I''m sure they''ll do fine. I''ve watched the tall one out yonder shoot before. He can fire his rifle just fine. We''ll make it." She smiled cheerfully, but it did no good. Jenkins waved her off, and continued to to sip on his coffee.

Marko threw the wrench into the dirt and kicked the tire. The spokes split and he cursed some more. By now though, no one noticed. It was like hearing the wind blow. He headed to the back of the wagon, pulled up the cover, and was face to face with a Reaper. The pain in his arm didn''t matter, he couldn''t even feel it. "That son of a bitch cut me! That son of a bitch, he jumped right out and cut me! Well somebody shoot him!" The Reaper ran right thought then came, full speed into the canyon. One of the Regulators fired blindly in the direction with his Redeemer. Before anyone could stop him, Marko was charging towards the canyon. Jeff jumped to his feet. as did the other Regulators, and the fight began.

Jeff watched in awe as Marko pulled up his rifle, and without aiming, managed to get a head shot on the nearest Rifleman. He fell from the ledge with a slight thud. The second shot wasn''t so lucky. It missed the Rifleman all together. Luckly, common sense kicked in and he dove behind a rock for cover. Jimmy Bean, who was a quiet fellow just stood there with a blank look. It didn''t change until a bullet struck him. Then the rest of the Regulators decided it was best to take cover as well. Jeff looked over at Marko, who was crouched next to him. "What are we gonna do now? They know where we are, we can''t run back, we can''t charge forward. This is all your fault!" Marko yelled back "Well I didn''t ask you to come out here if I recall! You all just ran out here yourselves! I didn''t need no help!" Jeff clenched his fists, but knew it wasn''t the time to argue. "Fine, but we need a plan. From what I saw, there must have been 20 of them! How do you expect to whip 20 of them?" Marko shifted his body, so he could just get a look at the numbers. "Well, where are all them weapons we carrying?" Jeff pointed to the wagon. "Where do you think? Sometimes I think all you have in that head of yours is nothing but.." "Cover me!" Marko jumped up, and started to run for the next rock closer. Jeff popped up, and shot from where he last saw the Riflemen in his memory. "Got one!" Marko got to the first rock, jumped up, and hit another...
