The Final Showdown - Written By onikage009

Shadow was getting tired. Having carried Jericho for a week with no rest finally took its toll on the animal. But, they couldn''t stop - not now. Not when they were so close to finally achieving their goal. Tonight, would finally be the night that Jericho Cross would be set free from the wretched Curse of the West, imposed onto him by Lazarus.

Ever since that dreadful night, when Jericho was bitten by the vampire master, Lazarus, the cowboy swore to exercise his revenge at whatever the cost. By Joining with Darkwatch, Jericho came to realize that he might actually turn his curse into an advantage. Even though he became a vampire, he was still able to retain most of his humanity, while gaining a few supernatural powers. The Darkwatch Society saw great potential in the young cowboy. So, they trained him - they gave him vast knowledge regarding the dark world of vampires, they provided him with advanced weaponry, they taught him how to develop and control his vampiric powers, they even gave him a demon horse, Shadow, for a companion, they made Jericho into one of their deadliest assassins.

Jericho, however, was not at all grateful. Even though he went along with the wishes of the secret society, the young cowboy did not pledge his allegiance to it. On the contrary, he only used Darkwatch to get stronger, to learn about his enemy and its weaknesses. Jericho used the secret society only as a means of realizing his ultimate goal of revenge against his sworn enemy, the most powerful vampire - Lazarus.

Tonight was the night that Jericho would be finally rid of his cure as well as his burning desire for revenge. After chasing Lazarus for seven days, constantly moving from one vampire sanctuary to another only to find it empty, the young cowboy was able to corner the wicked creature at its final resting place.

As Jericho approached the cemetery, a thick mist surrounded the area. No normal human being would be able to see an inch past his nose under these conditions, yet Jericho was no normal human being. Using his blood vision ability, he spotted a couple of zombies in the distance. They were crouching near some tombstones as if digging up the graves. A few skeletons were gently swaying in the trees, but other than that, the place seemed deserted.

Slowly, Jericho dismantled his loyal horse and gave it a signal to wait for him somewhere safe. Getting closer to the zombies, Jericho heard the all too familiar sounds of a ripping flesh. The zombies have dug out the dead bodies and were feasting on them. Blood and guts were everywhere. The smell of the rotten flesh filled the air and almost made Jericho sick. Without any hesitation, the brave cowboy took out his revolvers and started blasting the zombies.

"BANG! BANG! BANG!" The first one went down as all three bullets hit it in the head. The other two, startled by the sounds of gunshots, immediately charged at Jericho.

"BANG! BANG!" One more zombies hit the ground as its head exploded. The last zombie extended its arms to grab Jericho, but the cowboy was too quick for the miserable creature. At the last moment, Jericho stepped aside, holstered his guns, and took out a stick of dynamite. Quickly lighting the fuse, he drove the stick deep into the creature''s ribs and jumped away to the safety of one of the trees. Being too stupid to realize what just happened, the zombie tried to pursue Jericho... "BOOM!" the dynamite exploded as soon as the zombie tried to take the first step towards the cowboy. A few pieces of zombie''s flesh bounced off of Jericho''s chest as he let out a smirk of satisfaction.

Jumping down to the ground, Jericho made his way through the thick mist and the graves further into the cemetery. In the very center of the area, Jericho spotted two statues of vampires. Both of them were really big, much larger in size than any human. The detail on the statues was remarkable. Both statues had long hair, and vampire-like facial feature. Yet their eyes appeared to be closed. They stood in place with their arms crossed...
